iPhone 8 vs. Galaxy S8: Who is the Market Leader?

Apple's iPhone 8 vs. Samsung's Galaxy S8

Now I know that many people have conflicting views on this subject, and depending on what you're looking for there really is no absolute right answer. But with this being said, we can certainly compare the various specs and advantages each product brings to the smartphone industry. Everyone has different variables that carry more weight in personal preferences, so let's run through a few of these discrepancies in each of these impressive products.

For starters, there's quite a difference in the pricing for these two smartphones, and this can often be a determining factor among many consumer purchase decisions. We'll start with the iPhone 8; the base model for this new phone is being priced at about $700. Now the Samsung Galaxy 8S is being priced at nearly $950. Historically, the Galaxy has been a bit cheaper than the iPhone, but this model seems to be a bit more for various reasons.

Now when it comes to the software systems, the two are again competing for the most advanced technological software systems in the world. Apple has it's new software iOS 11 fully implemented into it's new model phone, and this system comes with fantastic ease of use. Apple's software is incredibly rich and colorful: from the lively and curated App Store, to the complete line of heavy-hitting features like Apple Music, iTunes store, Health, and Siri voice assistant, there is rarely a reason for one to think of venturing outside Apple's ecosystem.

On another note, Samsung's Galaxy 8S also has a very powerful interface program. Samsung has become significantly more recognizable for it's User Interface rather than it's operating system. Aside from some performance hiccups, Samsung Experience is cleverly designed and powerful, with ample customization options and a whole host of unique and useful features like Samsung Pay, Secure Folder, and the Bixby voice assistant.

With all of this being said so far, I can personally claim that Apple's operating system performance is unrivaled by it's simplicity and effectiveness. Apple also runs on safari which works spectacularly on the iPhone, whereas the Galaxy has two different browsers that it uses. One being the default system that it runs, and the other being Google Chrome.

Additionally, the camera capabilities between the two are very similar in performance. Depending on what your'e looking to get out of the cameras on these competing brands, you can't really go wrong with either.

For what I want to get out of a smartphone, I certainly believe that the iPhone 8 is the superior product, in the sense that it has better operating systems, internet connectedness, and pricing standpoints. So in my opinion, I would absolutely prefer to have an iPhone, but i know many consumers out there would disagree. It really just depends what you are looking for in the products, and how you intend to gain the most from their presence.
